Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls 9

Here is a photograph from this morning’s hike to Elowah Falls in the Columbia River Gorge, one of over 75 waterfalls on the Oregon side of the river alone. Elowah Falls, in the background here, has a vertical drop of 228 feet right in the middle of a massive basalt amphitheater. McCord Creek, which feeds the waterfall, drops further down the hill amidst a string of large boulders, offering some great compositions from different positions. It was dark enough this morning I didn’t even need my neutral density filter, which meant I could break out the polarizing filter and play with the colors a little bit. Every time I venture up in the Gorge for photography it’s a treat.
